Rivulet User Manual
Rivulet is one app for four parts of family life: a private Journal, a Family tree with stories, shared Care for households, and a Things home inventory. A home dashboard combines them into the Harmony Index. It runs on iOS and Android in English and German.
Getting started
- Install Rivulet from the App Store or Google Play.
- Choose Try as guest or create a free account. Guests have small limits and their data is not synced across devices.
- Use the five tabs at the bottom: Journal, Family, Home, Care, Things.
- Switch language in Settings. By default Rivulet follows your device language.
Home & Harmony Index
The Home tab shows your Harmony Index (the Life Harmony Score), from 0 to 100. Each of the four areas — Mind (Journal), Family, Care and Home (Things) contributes up to 25 points, so no single area can dominate.
- Foundation (half of each area): what you have built, such as items catalogued or family members connected. It never disappears when you take a break.
- Rhythm (other half): recent activity over the last one to two weeks, with a gentle resting baseline.
- The score is non-punitive: there are no broken streaks or warnings. Tap the card for a 7-day view, how it evolved and how each area is scored.
Journal
A private space for dreams and reflections.
Write an entry
Tap the plus button, pick the entry type (dream or reflection), write, and save. Entries belong to a date.
Week calendar
The calendar shows one week at a time. Use the arrows to move week by week. Dots under a day show entries (one colour for dreams, one for reflections). Tap a day to filter the list to that day; tap it again, or choose Show all, to see everything.
Find and filter
Use the search icon to search across all entries, and the filter chips to show only dreams or only reflections.
Family
An interactive family tree plus stories attached to the people in it.
- Tree: add people, connect them with relationships (parent, partner, sibling and more), and drag nodes on the canvas. The layout arranges generations automatically.
- Stories: record memories and traditions and link them to family members.
Care
Care is for everyday responsibilities: chores, appointments, medication, pets, plants, and care for children or relatives. You can keep tasks personal or share them in groups with family or flatmates.
Screen layout
- Title bar: Groups (people icon), Care Habits (routines icon) and Search.
- Plan for tomorrow: appears only when open care is planned for tomorrow, and shows how many items.
- Week calendar: one week at a time; dots mark days with open care. Tap a day to filter.
- Filter chips: by status (all, pending, completed), priority, and group.
- Care list: headed All Care, it lists every care task — past, present and future — or only the day you selected.
Add a care task
Tap the plus button. At the top, Add to lets you choose Personal or any of your groups. Then set a title (or pick a quick template for personal tasks), notes, a date or a multi-day range, optional start and end times, and a priority. In groups, assign the task to one or more members.
Reminders
Switch on the single Reminder row. If the task has a start time, choose how long before it (at start, 15 or 30 minutes, 1 or 2 hours, or 1 day); otherwise pick a fixed time. Reminders work for personal and group tasks. In a group, the reminder is set on your own device when the task is assigned to you. Notification settings are under Settings → Notifications.
Groups
Tap the people icon to open your groups. Create a group, invite people with a link or QR code, and manage members and roles (owner, admin, member). Each group has its own task list and a short activity feed showing the latest updates, with Show more for older ones.
Care Habits
Care Habits are reusable routines for repeating care, such as watering plants or taking out the bin. Create a habit once, then apply it to schedule care.
Things
A home inventory organised by room.
- Locations and items: add locations such as rooms, then items with a name, notes and photo.
- Nested folders: any location can hold sub-locations, as deep as you like — for example Kitchen › Pantry › Top shelf. Open a location and tap the folder button to add a sub-location. Item counts include everything nested inside, and a breadcrumb shows where you are. You can move a location under another one (or back to the top level) from its edit screen. Shared locations stay in sync: new or moved sub-locations join the share automatically, and locations you move out of a shared one are removed from it.
- AI scan: photograph a shelf or room and Rivulet suggests items for you to review before anything is saved.
- Lent items: note who an item is lent to so you remember where it is.
- Sharing: share your inventory with family or flatmates through a secure invite link or code (find Share inventory and Join with a code under the … menu). Choose which rooms are shared and whether people can view, add, edit or delete. Others join by entering the code.
